SINOPSIS
Basada en la exitosa película “movie Monty Python and the Holy Grail”, esta comedia musical explica la leyenda del Rey Arturo y sus Caballeros de la Mesa Redonda con la ayuda de una serie de ‘showgirls’ gratuitamente poco vestidas, vacas, conejos asesinos, gente francesa y un caballero con una pierna de menos.
HISTORIA
El musical, como la película, es una parodia irreverente de la leyenda del Rey Arturo, pero difiere de la película en muchas cosas, especialmente, en sus parodias del mundo de Broadway. Según el propio autro del libreto, Eric Idle, el título proviene de una frase de la película que decía "We eat ham, and jam and Spam a lot".
Además de los múltiples premios oficiales que el montaje ha ganado, el 23 de abril del 2007 el musical entró en el Libro Récord de los Guiness con motivo de realizar la "orquestra de cocos más larga del mundo". Ese día, 5567 fans del musical se reunieron en Trafalgar Square para acompañar a los miembros de Monty Phyton´s Terry Jones y Terry Gilliam en el tema "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life".

El actor Edu Soto se incorporó al elenco del musical el 30 de enero de 2009 interpretando el papel de Sir Galahad y otros tres personajes. Soto reemplazaba a Sergi Albert, quien realizó su última función el 22 de enero de 2009.
El musical se traslada a Madrid la temporada 2009-2010, estrenándose en el Teatro Lope de Vega el 10 de septiembre de 2009. Pocas modificaciones en el reparto: Dulcinea Juárez como Dama del LAgo, Ignasi Vidal como Sir Galahad y Victor Ullate como Sir Robin.

Procedente de una gira británica, esta producción de SPAMALOT se representó inicialmente en el Harold Pinter Theatre, del 24 de julio al 9 de septiembre de 2012, pero su éxito motivó que fuera transferido al Playhouse Theatre.
