RICKY ROJAS, Santiago de Chile 1979

Born in Chile and grown up in Australia, Ricky Rojas has developed his carreer as a musical theatre performer in London, starring in shows as FAME THE MUSICAL, GREASE or JOSEPH. Now he is a cast member of FLASHDANCE - THE MUSICAL.

His professional debut in musical theatre was in 2000 in BUDDY - THE BUDDY HOLLY STORY in which he played Ritchie Valens (Australian Tour, New Zealand, Singapore, Denmark, Ireland, UK tour and Novello Theatre in the West End).

Other theatre credits in the West End are Joe Vegas in FAME THE MUSICAL (Aldwych Theatre), Sonny, understudy Kenickie and Danny in GREASE (UK tour, Monte Carlo) and Kenickie in GREASE (at West End’s Piccadilly Theatre). Ricky was a cast member of JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT at the Adelphi Theatre and performed the main role in different occasions. He was the male vocalist in BURN THE FLOOR on Broadway and in the West End; and took part of the recent Union Theatre production of PIRATES OF PENZANCE. He also took part of the workshop of ZORRO THE MUSICAL, and of the recording of LOVE NEVER DIES concept album. His film credits include ‘Mission Impossible 2’. Ricky is also an accomplished singer / songwriter and regularly performs his own material.

Currently is part of the ensemble of FLASHDANCE - THE MUSICAL that began previews last Saturday 18th September at West End’s Shaftesbury Theatre.

- The first musical you saw and/or most impressed you: GREASE the movie (watched it every day when I was little).

- You would like to make a duet with: Beyonce.

- Webber o Sondheim? Sondheim.

- London or New York? London... but New York aswell... but mostly London.

- Do you keep the programmes of the musicals you watch? Yes!

- The worst moment you’ve had live on the stage was (as a performer and/or as a spectator): The first time my parents came to watch me in a show on the West End (BUDDY THE MUSICAL) and I fell quite badly and hurt my leg!!!!!

- An unforgettable moment (as a performer and/or as a spectator):
Opening night of BURN THE FLOOR on Broadway. It was my Broadway debut.

- Do you have any superstitions before the opening night? Not really... just get on with it.

- A musical character that you would like to BE (not perform): Danny Zuko (GREASE)... he´s the coolest.

- A character of your opposite sex that you would like to perform: Roxie Hart (CHICAGO).

- What do you like best/least about your work? Its what I love to do and so doesn´t feel like a job!!

- What is your favorite musical movie? LA BAMBA... it inspired me.

- The last CD/DVD related to Musicals that you have bought: ROCK OF AGES soundtrack.

- What is your favorite line from a musical? Any line that makes me laugh.

- Agree or disagree with TV Shows finding new Musical Stars (as ‘Over The Raibow’ or ‘I’d Do Anything’): Agree... keeps us in work!!!!

- You feel proud of: My son Rafael.

- Of this moment you’re living as an actor, the most important thing to you is: Family!!

- Other projects you are working on: Debut album and FLASHDANCE - THE MUSICAL opening in London 14th of October!!!! Come and watch!!!!!
