The Lyric Hammersmith has announced its fourth successive pantomime, CINDERELLA, directed by Artistic Director Sean Holmes and starring West End stars Steven Webb and Julie Atherton. Three years since Holmes began his tenure at the Lyric and re-introduced the artform to the theatre, this production marks his panto-directing debut.

CINDERELLA, written by Joel Horwood and Morgan Lloyd Malcolm, will be showing at Lyric Hammersmith Theatre from the 24 November 2012 until the 6th January 2013

Steven Webb, who also joins the team as Creative Associate, will play Buttons in the most popular of all pantomime stories, following his lead role in 2010’s DICK WHITTINGTON AND HIS CAT and his acclaimed turn as Wishy Washy in last year’s ALADDIN. His West End credits include the lead role in Sam Mendes’ OLIVER! and Tiny Tim in SCROOGE, both at the Palladium, as well as ‘The History Boys’ at Wyndham’s and BETWIXT! at Trafalgar Studios. He recently appeared in the premiere of Tim Prottey Jones musical AFTER THE TURN. He has also appeared in ‘The Inbetweeners’ and starred in the original production of Simon Stephens’ Olivier Award-winning ‘On the Shore of the Wide World’.

On his involvement in this year’s Christmas show, Webb said: “I´m so excited to be coming back to the Lyric for my third panto. It always has such a unique style and collaborative approach that I truly can´t wait to see what we come up with.”

Webb will be joined by Julie Atherton as Cinderella. Atherton starred in the original West End production of AVENUE Q, and her other musical theatre credits include FAME, and Phyllida Lloyd’s MAMMA MIA! at the Prince Edward Theatre. In November 2011 she starred alongside Catalan actor and director Daniel Anglès in the first ever bilingual production of THE LAST 5 YEARS at Girona’s Temporada Alta Festival and in Barcelona. She has released two studio albums; ‘A Girl of Few Words’ and ‘No Space for Air’, and is currently playing Sister Mary Robert in the first UK tour of SISTER ACT.

Sean Holmes’ productions for the Lyric include the Olivier Award-winning ‘Blasted’ and West End hit ‘Ghost Stories’. His other directing credits include ‘The Man Who Had All the Luck’ at the Donmar Warehouse, ‘The Entertainer’ at the Old Vic and several collaborations with innovative theatre company Filter, including ‘Twelfth Night’ and the recent acclaimed ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’.

Joel Horwood (Mikey the Pikey; I Caught Crabs in Walberswick, Bush) and Morgan Lloyd Malcolm (School of Comedy, E4; Hotel Trubble, CBBC) are back following the huge success of their previous collaborations JACK AND THE BEANSTALK, DICK WHITTINGTON AND HIS CAT and ALADDIN.
