Ten West End performers present the premier concert performance of Steven Luke Walker’s musical adaptation of Louisa-May Alcott’s LITLLE WOMEN in aid of the Gingerbread charity at the Playhouse Theatre on Sunday 24th June at 7.30pm.

The cast features an array of West End talent including Gina Beck (Glinda in WICKED) as Meg; Nikki Davis-Jones (standby for Elphaba in WICKED) as Jo; Sarah Lark (‘I’d Do Anything’, about to join LES MISÉRABLES) as Beth; Lisa-Anne Wood (Cosette in LES MISÉRABLES) as Amy and Shona Lindsay (DIRTY DANCING) as Marmee.

They will be joined by Helena Blackman (SATURDAY NIGHT), Norman Bowman (MAMMA MIA!), Daniel Boys (AVENUE Q) and Jon Robyns (LES MISÉRABLES, gira de SPAMALOT). Samantha Barks, who has recently landed the role of Eponine in the LES MISÉRABLES film will make a guest performance, and the ensemble comprises some of the best talent from Guildford School of Acting.

Hosted by theatre critic and journalist Mark Shenton, LITTLE WOMEN is directed by Nicola Samer, associate director for ‘The Ladykillers’ and FLASHDANCE and produced by Paul Taylor-Mills.

This gala concert is an opportunity for Steven, Nicola and Paul to present a new piece of musical theatre writing.

A story of love, maturity and sisterhood, LITTLE WOMEN is a story that translates across the generations. "Everyone has their own ‘Little Women’ story, and anyone who comes to see this concert will be able to relate with one of the characters" -says director, Nicola Samer- "It’s a timeless story, and Steven’s musical adaptation brings the story into the modern world whilst retaining a classic musical theatre sound."

Born in 1982, Steven Luke Walker wrote his first musical at the age of 15, ASPIRATIONS, to be performed at his local secondary school. Years later he wrote BLAZE THE MUSICAL, which was born and premiered at the Mons Hill Theatre, Dudley, using students from Dudley College. Steven work-shopped BLAZE again in 2004, rewriting much of the plot, and recording an Original Concept Album in July 2004. The show opened at London´s Bridewell Theatre in Summer 2007. Other credits include three children´s musicals: THE NIGHT WE SAVED CHRISTMAS, SCRUGINA and FLAME THE MUSICAL; and two professional pieces: LIVIN for Saturday Night and a musical adaptation of C.S. Lewis´ ‘The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe’. In march 2011 took place the concert ‘Stars of the West End sing the songs of Steven Luke Walker’ at London´s New Players Theatre.

‘Little Women’ was written by Louisa-May Allcott in 1868 and has stood the test of time, still being a popular story with today´s teenagers. It tells the story of four sisters, Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy, who through a series of happy, and sad, events, grow up into ‘little women’. It is said that the story is loosely based on the childhood of the author, Louisa-May Alcott and her experiences with her three sisters. The story follows the sisters through love, marriage, illness, death, and the inevitable move away from the childhood home.
