Simon Greiff will direct STAND TALL - A ROCK MUSICAL, a new contemporary rock/pop musical by Lee Wyatt-Buchan, Aldie Chalmers & Sandy Chalmers, that will get its London premiere in a five-week season at the Landor Theatre from Wednesday October 12 to Saturday November 12. Press night will be on Monday 17th October.

STAND TALL - A ROCK MUSICAL is based on the biblical tale of David and Goliath but re-told in a current day-to-day setting. Gone is the sling and David now has an electric guitar. The 17 songs range from rock to hip-hop and blues.

David’s life is good - shepherd by day, rock star by night. He and his band of brothers frequently rock out and are adored by thousands. His life however gets complicated when he is proclaimed to be The Chosen One by the mystical Black Sheep. David has been given the honour of becoming King...he’s just not sure. This could actually get in the way of his music! Goliath is a bully by day, bully by night! He and his gang of hoods cause mayhem and chaos across town, revelling in their tyranny and ruining the lives of many. Does Goliath like the news that a Shepherd boy is to become his King? No he doesn’t. In fact he’s angry. No sheep lover is going to tell him how to live his life! Goliath has one thing on his mind and hurting David is it.

An early version of STAND TALL - A ROCK MUSICAL was written specifically for schools to help tackle the issue of bullying.
 
Jack Shalloo, Ryan O´Donnell, Keisha Amponsa Banson, Natasha J Barnes and Martin Pirongs will be the cast for the show. The rest of the creative team is to be announced.


Simon Greiff´s previous directing credits include the premiere of ´The Pork Crunch´ (Pleasance), SPRING AWAKENING (Wilde Theatre), the British premiere of STRIKING 12 (Waterloo East), ´Home: The Scott Alan Song Cycle´ workshop (Her Majesty’s) which he also co-created. He was the resident director on the No1 tour of WE WILL ROCK YOU. He is currently creating STORIES FROM THE LIGHTHOUSE with the award-winning British writer Laurence Mark Wythe, whose musical TOMORROW MORNING was produced at the Landor in 2010.

The Shrill Team recorded recently their official STAND TALL 4 track EP at the legendary Tin Pan Alley studios where artists such as The Beatles, Rolling Stones and Jimi Hendrix have been clients. The 4 track demo including the tracks "Time to Talk", "Goliath´s Song", "So Indecisive", "Stronger Than This" was produced by Stand Tall Director Simon Greiff through his record company SimG Records. As part of this project the Shrill team are pleased to have enlisted the talented musical supervisor Peter White who has arranged the music and contributed musically on the recordings. The vocal artists on the EP include Ashleigh Gray (WICKED), Ross Hunger (WWRY), Nicola Hughes (CHICAGO) and Owain Williams (LES MISÉRABLES).
